The fundamental use of dental implants is to assist dental prosthetics. Modern dental implants make use of osseointegration, the biologic manner where bone fuses tightly to the surface of specific substances such as titanium and some ceramics. The integration of implant and bone can help physical masses for a long time barring failure.

One versus two-stage surgery
